Fedora 8 Install! Comments

I can describe the install for Fedora in pretty much one word. “AWESOME”. Although it is very clean, shiny right out of the box kind of flavor of linux. I LOVED the installer. It is worldwide known for its, quote on quote “wonderfulness”.  Although it is user friendly, you still can go at it, as a guru. It pretty much has two options, one has tons of options. The other is pretty much a hit go. All the new linux users, I would recommend either Fedora or Ubuntu. I had a little fun actually. I installed compiz-fusion. (The 3-D Cube!) At the moment I have the internet on one side, AIM on the other, and my blog on the other. This cube feature it amazing for organization and is a great thing for everyone! Again, Fedora is one word. “AWESOME!”

Why? Why Mangospork? Why Shoon? Comments

Just for kicks I made these into definitions. I’m thinking of posting these to online dictionaries. :P
First of all, you might know the whole mangospork name.

Mangospork- adj.- Chosen as a quirky name for Shane Owens, that he could use for his online business. (www.linuxlocker.tk) This name was generated because this alpha male wanted something that included the following: quirkiness, sweet, desirable, catchy, odd ball, etc. The alpha male or Jesus, thought for long long hours. He came up with many names, but none stuck as much as “Mangospork” He chose Mango because its sweet, the outcast of the fruit that everyone loves, although the odd shell has a very nice inside, as well as the fact that the fruit that never gets bruises. The decision towards spork was as well difficult, these included things such as: The odd utencil, not so much the outcast but the one that makes the things work, when the spoon and fork let people down, who do people go to, the knife? No. The spork! Although the spork is very usefull, it tends to be uncommon. Even though they are sold in large quantities, no one buys them, although you can find them lying around schools. This utensil is much like wooden pencil. The spork provided the service that no other utencil can provide. A friendly user interface that applys to all its users. From soup to steak, it does it all.
You might not know, but my AIM is shoon321. Everyone asks why shoon? soooo…..

Shoon- N. – Orginiated from the Harts Family name (Shoonster) toward the alpha male Shane Owens. See def: Shoonster page 3

Shoonster- adj.- The name given to the Alpha Male (shane Owens or god) by the Sr. William B. Hart. Story behind the word: Sr. William B. Hart called alpha male, shanester. This alpha male went on trip to the bowling alley located at North Island, Coronado CA 92118. While writing the name, “shanester” the following letters did not work: a, e. With no room for a, e, Sr. William B. Hart asked the alpha male Shane Owens, “Shanester, what letter do you like?” Alpha Male, Shane Owens said: “I think O is my favorite letter.” From there Sr. William B. Hart inserted the letter. Thus producing the name, “shoonster”.

Brett's Install-HP DV6000 Comments

Okay, so my friend tells me that his computer is messed up. I understand and offer my services. He accepts the service and I pick up the laptop to reinstall Vista-via restore CD, and dual boot Ubuntu 7.10. I get home and realize, he gave me the anytime upgrade. I am confoozeld that they gave him an "anytime upgrade-Vista" CD with the purchase of his laptop. I was puzzled. I see that there is no way to install vista, via disk. So, I tell him that Vista is out the door. He understands and tells me just to continue with the ubuntu install. I agree, and pop in the Ubuntu disk. While starting the LiveCD it begins a whole other problem. It starts a problem with Xserver. (Xserver.org is what broadcasts the images from the OS pretty much) Well anywhoo. I need to command line start xserver using "noapic nolapic". It worked great. I went into the partition editor "Gparted" and it noted me that the hard drive was corrupted. I was amazed. It's an extremely new laptop. Its a dual core, with Vista home premium, With 2 gb of ram! I thought, "Oh, I'm sure this is just a problem with ubuntu's live cd. So I clean shut down and decided to check the CD for bugs. No bugs were found. I clean restart again. No bugs. I run it again and still corrupted. I find that to take away the corruption, I need to install a new os over this partition. With no restore CD's I was amazed, "I have become stuck." Heh. Well. Anywhoo, Brett wanted to downgrade to XP in the first place. So, when he buys XP I said that I would be glad to do it all over again. Personally, this laptops ubuntu drivers are in my opinion, horrible. If you are seriously wanting to install ubuntu on the HP DV6000, make sure you are ready for tons of glitches. (Also make sure you are in a comfortable position with a soda and your choice of junk food.)

Verizon Wireless Broadband Comments

Woah woah woah, slow down.. Wait. 20 dollars for mobile broadband a month! Wow. I could spend 20 dollars a month and pay for a brand new computer. I personally think that anyone that does this is wasting tons of money. To have the ability to access the internet anywhere, “It’s a lavish unneeded access”. Is “internet anywhere” really worth 240 dollars a year! Think about it and add it up. Thats tons of money down the drain. You might use it one or twice a week. Before paying for this, think.
